Finding love in your mid-thirties is an amazing blessing, filled with beautiful moments shared between you and your partner. Our fondest memory is, hands-down, the day we met…well, met in person. In true contemporary fashion, our relationship is the product of the Hinge dating app. The app “designed to be deleted” cleared a path for nights filled with roller skating, taking salsa lessons, and watching sunsets at the beach. Our career aspirations complemented each other, our core values aligned, and we both longed for a family. After an intimate wedding ceremony in December of 2023, we began laying the foundation for the little lives we want to bring into this world. Everything went accordingly with our donor but, after two unsuccessful attempts with home insemination, we sought the guidance of a fertility specialist. Although we were disappointed about the results of the first two attempts, we remained enthusiastic. Deflation quickly set in, however, after learning the probable cause of those outcomes. Sizable fibroids have negatively impacted both of our uterine cavities, making successful implantation or sustained pregnancy unlikely. An ultrasound further revealed a reduced number of egg- containing follicles, also referred to as a low antral follicle count (AFC). Our romantic mid-thirties dream has suddenly been met with a harsh reality – time is of the essence. At least one myomectomy (surgical removal of uterine fibroids) and a minimum of two IVF cycles are on the horizon if we want to continue our family-building journey. The physical hurdles we will have to overcome as a couple are daunting, and the cost of IVF is shocking. Still, none of the obstacles are insurmountable. We do not want our plans to grow our family become completely derailed. For these reasons, we would forever cherish your compassion and financial support of any amount as we navigate the road ahead.
